The Blackburn Group, one Los Angeles organization for mental health, recovery and personal growth.
Who we help
Blackburn Recovery Services works with people facing addiction and alcoholism, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions, and with their families.
Our office is at 12326 Venice Blvd in Los Angeles.
Each plan starts with the person’s history, goals and the pressures they are facing.
Case management
Case management gives a client one point of contact who coordinates every service, clinician and resource they need.
- Assessment and a personalized care plan
- Coordination of therapy, medication management and treatment programs
- Advocacy in healthcare and legal settings
- Progress tracking and plan changes as needs shift
- Help in a mental health or substance use crisis
Intervention
Our intervention is a compassionate, five-step process that helps families start the path to recovery.
The steps are planning, education, rehearsal, the meeting and aftercare. Families learn how to share concerns in a calm, non-confrontational way and present a clear plan for care.
After the meeting, our team keeps supporting the person and the family through early recovery.
Ongoing support
Support continues after treatment, when the risk of relapse is often highest.
- Mentoring for life skills, career, finances, fitness and relationships
- Monitoring and aftercare with regular testing and check-ins
- Private spiritual counseling
- Volunteer and experiential work, including service work and creative arts
- Family updates, with the client’s permission
How it connects
Recovery Services is often the coordinating hub.
With the client’s consent, case managers bring in therapy and psychiatry from Blackburn Clinical Services, testing from Blackburn Monitoring and mentoring from Blackburn Mentoring. The Blackburn Foundation can help fund treatment for people who cannot afford it.

Questions
What does a case manager do?
A case manager is the main point of contact. They assess needs, build a plan, coordinate providers and handle scheduling, communication and paperwork.
Do you give legal advice?
No. We can advocate for a client’s needs in legal settings, but we are not a law firm and do not give legal advice.
Will my family get updates?
Only with your permission. When you agree, our team shares regular progress updates with your family.
How long does case management last?
It varies. Some clients need a few months of intensive support. Others need longer-term coordination.
